Top 5 Drug Store Mascaras
I have tried each of these mascaras, and have found them all to give me both volume and length. They also seem to deliver a wide eyed effect by curling and fanning out the lashes. They're all a great value for your money, and deliver their promised results.
Rimmel Supercurl 24HR Volume Curl Mascara
Rimmel Supercurl 24HR Volume Curl Mascara is a superior curling mascara. It is buildable for increased volume and curl, with a very long wear formula. A very good choice for weddings or wet weather.
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
This classic product has been around longer than I have, but it's because it just works. The small wand is wonderful for people with short lashes or small eyes, as it doesn't get all over your skin like an oversized brush can. The color selection is good, and there are waterproof versions as well. It's non clumpy, and has a nice glossy finish. Good for length, separation, and buildable volume.
L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara
This is a fantastic mascara if you're looking for big, fluffy, fanned out glam lashes. It's formula stays on very well, and doesn't flake like some of L'Oreal's other mascaras have been known to do. The brush gets the outer corners of your lashes very well, and does a great job of lifting and separating the voluminous formula. Available in waterproof too!
Marcelle Ultimate Volume Mascara
This is the perfect volumizing formula for sensitive eyes or contact lens wearers. The brush is big and covers your lashes in a thick coating of deep black mascara. There is not a waterproof formula, however Marcelle makes a Waterproofing Top Coat for use with any mascara, transforming a non waterproof formula into a long wearing smudge free finish.
Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara
This mascara was like a hidden gem for me. It's only $4.99 at Shopper's, but it works like a $20 mascara. This product gives fluffy looking, separated yet voluminous lashes. The cobra wand is versatile and coats well. I think this is one of the best mascaras you can get for $5!
I have bought all of them at Shopper's Drug Mart, but many are also available at Rexall Pharma Plus, Wal-Mart, and the Real Canadian Super Store/Loblaws.
